A Penny's Worth of Thought: Little to Some

Last night a group of adults, teens and children altered a prearranged plan due to the weather to sing Christmas Carols to some sweet senior citizens at a couple local nursing homes.  Doing so reminded me of something easily forgotten but very important.

It is the little things that often make the biggest impact.

What we often fail to realize is that although some things may be little or inconsequential to us, it may mean a world worth of difference to someone else.

Case in point:

A kind word spoken in passing may be the only kind word that person heard that day.

Taking the time to help someone pick up something they dropped, opening a door, saying thank you; all of these may be the only act of kindness that a person may have experienced in a long time

Taking a few moments to listen or talk to someone out of your way may be the only time that someone has ever stopped to even say hello to them.

People don't always or aren't always able to express their gratitude and feelings.  It is even possible at that moment what you did or said meant very little to a person, but even if that were true: do it anyway.

Why?

Because Jesus said that there would be a day when He would thank people for all that they did for Him.  And in that day some of those people would answer, when did we do these things for you?  And Jesus will answer:

"When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
