Are We Getting It?
March 21, 2020, 9:00 AM

During this time of Coronavirus uncertainty, confusion, and fear, we have seen a lot of negativity, fear mongering, and panic inciting news.

Because of this many are mired in pessimism, hopelessness, and negativity.

Consequently, there have been many attempting to combat this by expressing optimism, positivities, especially coupled with a “can do” attitude and “we will overcome” thinking.

And I get it.  I really do.  I would much rather focus on the positive, and the good, than dwell on the bad.

But I came across this passage this morning, and I wondered...are we getting it, or are we missing the point of all this.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I Peter 5:6-7

Our Hope comes not from humanity, not from government, not from our own will or strength.

Our hope comes from the Lord!

God allows things in our lives, to get our attention on him.  Therefore we are to look to him and not to ourselves.

We are to humble ourselves, not exalt or puff ourselves up!

We are to submit ourselves to God.  We must yield ourselves to His will, His way, His plans.

When we do, when we look to him and trust Him for our need, we are placing our cares, burdens, fears, etc. on Him, and He lifts our heavy load.

He lifts our burden for us, and provides our needs faithfully, because he loves and cares about us.

Yes, be positive, yes be optimistic.  But, be positively optimistic in the hope we have in our Savior and our God.

Do you get it?  Or Are you missing it?

Don’t miss what God is trying to do in your life.

Humble yourselves before Him, and exalt Him and you will find that He will lift you up in His time.  He will lift you and carry you to a place you never dreamed of, because He loves you that much.
