What I Have Noticed Ch. 16

Hey Y’all Jonathan McGary here, with Pleasant Hill Baptist

And this is another edition of: What I Have Noticed.

My wife works in the education system, I am a pastor and and have a real heart and passion for young people, and I have 3 young children including one teenager.

I am constantly around young people, who are growing and changing, and trying to figure out who they are.

They deal with peer pressure, cultural pressure, parental pressure, and just overall pressure to be liked, to be popular, and are looking for confidence in where they fit in the world.

Having said all that, young kids, and teenagers are not the only ones dealing with these pressures.  On some level no matter what our age, we are looking to find our acceptance and our place in this life.

And I hear a lot of people giving advice, like:  Be yourself and be who you are, and don’t try to be anybody else but you.

And do you know what I have noticed?

The key to confidence in this life is not by knowing who you are, but rather by knowing WHOSE you are.

Ephesians 3:11-12 says: According to the eternal purpose which he purpose sin Christ Jesus our Lord

In Whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

And I Corinthians 6 - tells us that we are not our own, but we are bought with a price.  If we are saved by grace we can know with confidence that We belong to God.

Our identity is with Christ!  We are inseparably linked to Christ!

We need to know that God sees us as He sees Jesus!  Because of the Shed blood of Jesus that has marked our lives.

Our Heavenly Father is the King of Kings and God of god’s

We are part of the royal family.  We are Son’s and daughters of God, Princes and Princesses that are join heirs with Christ because of Christ!

He is beloved and we are beloved!

Our God created it all, owns it all, and has power over it all.

Whenever we are tempted by the the devil and sin to think of ourself as less than that, or to act like someone who is less than that, we must remember who we are in Christ and whose we are because of Christ.

If we look to self, or act like self ourself, or try to be ourself...without the knowledge of our identity in Christ...we are prone to live beneath our privilege.

We must find who we are, where we fit in the world, and the acceptance we desire in the world through Christ...or we are missing out.

I hope you will notice what I have noticed.

I pray, you will Remember who you are and whose you are and you are the precious prize of the King of the Universe.

Armed with that knowledge you can live with confidence and be what God meant for you to be.

Until next time,  remember I love you

More importantly God loves you.

Keep your eyes upon Him.
